These “Golden Gates” belong to you… but if Derbyshire County Council’s plans to lease the park to a private developer go ahead the famous Golden Gates may well be closed to you.

The Golden Gates were installed in the park in 1819, they made their to Elvaston via Madrid and Versailles.

Elvaston Castle boasts many miles of footpaths, all of which are under threat of closure due to Derbyshire County Councils plans to lease the park for 150 years to a private developer.

Today this footpath belongs to Torri Jessop of Belper, today this footpath belongs to YOU. Tomorrow it may belong to wealthy golf lover with a membership card to the exclusive Elvaston Castle Private Golf Club but it doesn’t have to be this way. Elvaston Castle belongs to you and it’s not too late for you to save it!
