Generation Game
September 9, 2007

The Grottos and Follies of Elvaston Castle have been the favoured playground for almost three generations of Derbyshire and Derby City people. In 150 years time when the Hotel and Golf Course’s lease runs out this little girl’s Great, Great Grandaughter might wonder why her ancestors did nothing to save Elvaston Castle.
Join in the fight – Friends of Elvaston Castle.
We visited the estate at the weekend for the first time in a while and spotted first the tree tags and then the rock wrapping around the paths.
I just wanted to say what a brilliant idea you’ve hit upon! As someone who’s long been aware of the fight to save the estate, it still surprises me how many people (especially local people) are unware of the threat to the estate and I think that the steps you have taken around the estate to highlight its plight are brilliant.
As well as getting the message across in an original, eye-catching way, it also made for a good hour’s entertainment for our five-year-old son as he played “spot the red tag” throughout our the walk!
Well done, and keep up the great work!
Thank-you very much for your kind comments and support. It’s very much our aim to increase awareness of what is going on amongst visitors to the park.
Perhaps “SpondonOnline” might be insterested in linking to the site and the use of some of our images?
All the best and thanks!
