This Tree Belongs To : / Save Elvaston Castle
Elvaston Castle belongs to me, it belongs to you. Yet no-one seems to know it’s on the verge of being leased to a private developer for a minimum of 150 years.
I want to do something about that, don’t you?
“This Tree Belongs To: / Save Elvaston Castle” – a series of agitprop art installations at Elvaston Castle Country Park, Derbyshire created to widen awareness of the Derbyshire public and visitors to the park of the Derbyshire County Councils plans to lease the park to a private developer for a minimum period of 150 years and the impact the lease will have on the publics access to the park and the environmental damage to the park, it’s historic buildings, gardens and wildlife.
Installation Two : “Wrapping Rocks”

No were not taking about popular music… instead we’re taking over 30 metres of specially dyed calico cloth and “Closing” some of Elvaston Castle’s favourite landmarks. Just how much of the Park will be taken away from us is unknown, but from time to time it’s been let slip that it’s a lot more than we might think… visit the Friends of Elvaston website for more
Installation One : “Tag A Tree”

The Tag a Tree installation is taking place at numerous locations at Elvaston. Small red tags with messages are attached to trees and other objects and assets of the park. The tags used are made of recycled bio-degradable card and raffia (string made from Raffia Palms) every night we re-visit the park and collect tags that have been destroyed/torn off/fallen off. If you spot a torn up tag please help us by disposing of it in a bin. Litter is a real problem in the park, especially as no-one from the council seems to be employed to clear it up!
